Was terrorist attack on Western targets in Somalia coincidental???

CHANGE OF GIARDS - There was a twin terror attack on western targets in Somalia today.  An Italian military convoy was attacked in the capital Mogadishu.  The USA training base for Somali Special Forces in Baledogle, 100 kms from Mogadishu was also attacked.   Terrorist attacks on western targets in Somalia has been unheard of for quite along time.  The general situation in Somalia has tremendously improved and the AMISOM troops are scheduled to withdraw by 2021.

However, for selfish interests, some AMISOM contributing countries like Uganda have no intention of having their troops leave Somalia.  To coincide with the recent sanctioning of Museveni's Gen. Kalekyezi and Museveni's hostile response, the regime has launched a campaign of blackmail.

Museveni's Ambassador to Somalia, Gen. Nathan Mugisha is leading the media campaign and propaganda while his Prime Minister emphasized the same during his address to the UN General Assembly.  This website, as usual analysed the development three days ago.

“You say Amisom is going; before AMISOM gets out, all of them (people) will be out. Just expect that. No doubt. You go build bigger walls; bigger fences. They (refugees) will come (to Europe) in waves. They will come. That’s a sure deal. If AMISOM was to close; even if they hear that AMISOM is going; they will not wait for al Shabaab. They know what will be done to them. They will do like 2010. It will be worse, because who will wait for al Shabaab to come when they know that you were staying with AMISOM? There will be an exodus. Before AMISOM leaves, you’ll feel the impact...........Those who will remain; how will they manage the situation? That means we will have to lose ground. It shrinks. That would be handing over to Al Shabaab."  Gen. Nathan Mugisha - Museveni's Ambassador to Somalia

Since 2007, Museveni has had his army in Somalia under AMISOM. For the last 12 years, he has used this peace keeping mission as a welfare scheme for his army, a source of foreign exchange for his personal use and to blackmail the West. However, the AMISOM forces are required to conduct a gradual handover of security responsibilities to Somali forces, who aim to take the lead by 2021.

Therefore, Museveni and his top cohorts can't believe that their army can do without AMISOM. They have launched a vigorous media campaign aimed at creating an impression that once their troops leave, Somalia will slide back to anarchy. Given the level of despair, it won't be surprising if we may soon witness an upsurge in attacks by the Al Shabaab.

Cameroon national peace dialogue begins, without separatists

YAOUNDE, Cameroon (Associated Press) — Cameroon started a national dialogue Monday in an effort to solve the separatist conflict that has killed thousands in the country’s English-speaking regions in the past two years, but key separatist leaders refused to attend.

Cameroon President Paul Biya announced the dialogue earlier in September when he also called on all separatists in the South East and North East English-speaking regions to surrender and be forgiven.

Nearly 3,000 people have died since 2017 in fighting in the regions over the separatist issue, including 300 defense and security forces. The violence forced more than 500,000 people from their homes.

The talks being led by Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute extend through Friday in the capital, Yaounde.

Ngute asked the more than 1,000 people at the Yaounde conference center Monday if they would want to make history by bringing peace or war.

“Do we want future generations to remember that we were unable to find consensual answers to concerns that are not unsolvable or do we want to be considered as true peace makers in resolving this crisis that has deprived many of our children of their parents, their education and threatened their future, sometimes irreversably?” Ngute said. “The president of Cameroon who has ordered the dialogue is waiting for the outcome so that Cameroon becomes a peace haven it was before the crisis stepped in.

The separatists refused to attend the talks, demanding that the government release their leader Julius Ayuk Tabe, who was sentenced to life in prison in August by a military tribunal that found him guilty of crimes including secession and hostilities against the state.

The rebel groups also said they would only agree to such negotiations if they take place in a foreign country with U.N. mediators and in the presence of such world powers such as the United States, Britain, France and Germany.

Cameroon’s government, however, has said the country is united. And in his national address at the beginning of September, Biya denied any marginalization of English-speaking regions, saying he has always appointed Cabinet ministers from the regions.

On Monday, the prime minister said by solving issues of marginalization, even without the presence of the separatists, many fighters would give up their struggle.

Political analyst Willibroad Ze Ngwa of the University of Yaounde agreed, saying the dialogue will calm many fighters who joined the war because they were frustrated by marginalization.

“If strong decisions are taken to stop marginalization of English speakers and give them the opportunity to take part in governance processes by voting their local representatives, it will calm a huge majority of fighters who simply want to take part in decision making,” he said.

The violence first erupted in 2016 when teachers and lawyers protested against alleged discrimination at the hands of Cameroon’s French-speaking majority.

Cameroon was once divided between British and French colonial powers. English speakers make up 20 percent of country’s 24 million people and have long complained of being marginalized by the French-speaking majority.

The government responded with a crackdown that sparked an armed movement for an independent, English-speaking state called Ambazonia, which was declared by a militant secessionist group in October 2017. That group then started attacking Cameroon officials, the military and police working in the region.

In November 2017, Biya declared war on the separatists.

Monday, Prime Minister Ngute said, “We want to see our children in schools, we want to see life return to villages that have been deserted, we want to heal our wounds and turn a new page.”

The dialogue began with 30 former separatist fighters, ranging in age from 19 to 35 years old, singing the national anthem.

Yannick Kawa Kawa, their 29-year-old spokesman said he was optimistic his peers still fighting will also drop their guns if the dialogue brings proposals that will stop the French majority from dominating the English minority in the country where French and English are official languages.

“There are companies located around our areas (English-speaking regions) but most of those companies are run by French-speaking Cameroonians. We in our own areas we do not have the opportunity to work in those companies,” he said. “Those are the reasons why we picked up guns to fight against our government.”

The talks also include delegates from civil society groups, lawmakers, traditional rulers, clergy and Cameroonians who live overseas.

NIGERIA: Baby factory, sellers arrested

Nigerian police rescue 19 young women forced to have babies

LAGOS, Nigeria (Associated Press) — Police in Lagos say they have rescued 19 pregnant girls and young women who had been kidnapped, impregnated and forced to give birth to babies which were then sold.

Lagos police spokesman Bala Elkana said the victims and four babies were rescued from four locations in the Ikotun area of Lagos. The victims, who are mainly from eastern Nigeria, said they were tricked into coming to Lagos with the promise of getting job as domestic staff.

Elkana said two suspects have been arrested, and a manhunt launched for the lead suspect.

Nigeria has a high incidence of syndicates that keep young women to produce babies for sale, which have locally been termed “baby factories.” The police spokesman said the price of a baby can range from $830 to $1,400.

Slovenia's flag carrier Adria Airways files for bankruptcy

In another blow to the travel industry following last week's demise of Thomas Cook, the former Slovenian national airline has begun a bankruptcy procedure. Adria was bought by German investment fund 4K in 2016.

By DW

Slovenia's former national airline, Adria Airways, announced on Monday that it had filed for receivership.

Adria, which was bought from Slovene state ownership by German investment fund 4K in 2016, released a statement saying: "Adria Airways on Monday filed at the court in Kranj a request to start a bankruptcy procedure," citing a "lack of liquidity."

Slovenia's Civil Aviation Agency said Adria's licence had been revoked and that all of the airline's planes had been grounded.

The announcement comes just hours after Slovenia's Economy Minister Zdravko Pocivalsek said receivership was the only possible avenue for the company.

And the German owners, 4K, came in for some heavy criticism from Pocivalsek. The politician said that Adria's losses were higher than anticipated. He also said that Slovenia might set up a new national carrier in the wake of Adria's demise.

Economy hit but no bailout

Slovenia's economy and tourism industry is expected to take a hit but Pocivalsek said the government was unable to help as the company was privately owned, also saying that its levels of debt would prohibit such a move.

"This would entail us taking over a high debt and enabling the owner to avoid any accountability," Pocivalsek said. "This would be irresponsible to the citizens and the budget."

Just last week, Slovenia's Civil Aviation Agency gave Adria seven days to present a financial restructuring plan.

Adria started cancelling flights because of its liquidity problems, with the decision affecting more than 10,000 passengers.

McConnell: Senate must take up impeachment if House approves

WASHINGTON (Associated Press) — Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said Monday that Senate rules would require him to take up any articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump if approved by the House, swatting down talk that that the GOP-controlled chamber could dodge the matter entirely.

“I would have no choice but to take it up,” McConnell said on CNBC. But he cautioned, “How long you’re on it is a whole different matter.”

House Democrats are pushing for quick action on their probe into a phone transcript and whistleblower complaint that Trump pressured Ukraine’s president to investigate Democratic foe Joe Biden’s family. If the House approves articles of impeachment — not introduced at this point — they would be sent to the Senate for trial. McConnell suggested he does not have the 67 votes to change the rules. But the Kentucky Republican, the Senate’s chief strategist, left open what he means by taking up the issue.

Those tricky procedural questions could affect Trump’s political future and next year’s presidential and congressional election.

As Trump raged on Twitter on Monday, the House plowed ahead with formal impeachment proceedings into whether the president pressured the leader of an Eastern European country to investigate former Vice President Biden and his son.

Democrats are driving the proceedings toward what some hope is a vote to impeach, or indict, Trump by year’s end, and they have launched a coordinated political, messaging and polling strategy aimed at keeping any backlash in closely divided districts from toppling their House majority.

House intelligence committee chairman Adam Schiff is expected to issue new subpoenas, depose witnesses and perhaps hold a hearing as soon as this week. He said on Sunday that the panel would hear from the still-secret whistleblower “very soon,” but that no date had been set and other details remained to be worked out.

Polling showed some movement in public sentiment. A one-day NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll conducted Sept. 25 found that about half of Americans — 49% — approve of the House formally starting an impeachment inquiry into Trump.

There remains a stark partisan divide on the issue, with 88% of Democrats approving and 93% of Republicans disapproving of the inquiry. But the findings suggest movement: Earlier polls conducted throughout Trump’s presidency have consistently found a majority saying he should not be impeached.

The sometimes-confusing challenge of defending Trump broke into the open on Sunday’s talk shows. Rudy Giuliani, the president’s lawyer, insisted the real story is a conspiracy theory that has been debunked. Stephen Miller, Trump’s senior policy adviser, blamed a “deep state” of Democrats within the government. And Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio pointed at Biden’s son.

But the real question for Republicans is what happens if the House votes to impeach Trump and sends the issue to the Senate for trial.

A memorandum that Senate Republicans circulated over the weekend acknowledged it would be hard for McConnell to “bar the doors” and prevent the resolution managers from presenting the articles to the Senate. After that, though, McConnell has procedural options, including limiting the time they could be considered.

“How long you’re on it is a whole different matter,” he said, without elaborating.

Republicans, meanwhile were split over how and whether to defend Trump’s own words contained in a phone transcript and his actions, described by a whistleblower’s report — both of which were made public by the White House.

The result has been a rainbow of approaches, led by Trump, who stormed on Twitter that the whistleblower was “fake” and suggested the people leading the probe should be arrested and charged with treason.

“The Fake Whistleblower complaint is not holding up,” he tweeted Monday morning.

“I am deeply frustrated with what he and the legal team is doing and repeating that debunked theory to the president. It sticks in his mind when he hears it over and over again,” said Tom Bossert, Trump’s former homeland security adviser. “That conspiracy theory has got to go, they have to stop with that, it cannot continue to be repeated.”

Not only did Giuliani repeat it Sunday, he brandished pieces of paper he said were affidavits supporting his story.

“Tom Bossert doesn’t know what’s he’s talking about,” Guiliani said. He added that Trump was framed by the Democrats.

Senior White House policy adviser Stephen Miller, meanwhile, noted that he’s worked in the federal government “for nearly three years.”

“I know the difference between whistleblower and a deep state operative,” Miller said. “This is a deep state operative, pure and simple.”

Meanwhile, Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, heatedly said Trump was merely asking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to root out corruption. That, Jordan said, includes Hunter Biden’s membership on the board of a Ukrainian gas company at the same time his father was leading the Obama administration’s diplomatic dealings with Kyiv. There has been no evidence of wrongdoing by either of the Bidens.

Trump has insisted his call was “perfect.”

“He didn’t even know that it was wrong,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, describing her own phone call from Trump in which the president suggested the documents would exonerate him.

Bossert, an alumnus of Republican George W. Bush’s administration, offered a theory and some advice to Trump: Move past the fury over the 2016 Russia investigation, in which special counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence of conspiracy but plenty of examples of Trump’s obstruction.

“I honestly believe this president has not gotten his pound of flesh yet from past grievances on the 2016 investigation,” Bossert said. “If he continues to focus on that white whale, it’s going to bring him down.”

Giuliani appeared on ABC’s “This Week” and CBS’ “Face the Nation,” while Schiff was interviewed on ABC and NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Bossert spoke on ABC and Miller on “Fox News Sunday.” Jordan appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union.” Pelosi and McCarthy appeared on CBS’ “60 Minutes.”

Discovery of massive oil deposit could be a game-changer for China

© Reuters
China’s largest oil and gas producer CNPC has announced the discovery of an oilfield that could hold over a billion tons of reserves in the northwest of the country.

According to CNPC, the proven reserves at Qingcheng oilfield in the Ordos basin stand at 358 million tons, while its estimated reserves could reach 693 million tons.

A total of 640,000 tons of oil will be produced in the oilfield this year, and the annual output is expected to reach three million tons in the near future, according to Li Luguang, vice president of PetroChina (a subsidiary of CNPC).

The company also reported some 740.97 billion cubic meters of newly added proven shale gas reserves, which have been explored in southwest China’s Sichuan Basin. It plans to produce 7.7 billion cubic meters of shale gas this year and expand the output to over 10 billion cubic meters by the end of 2020.

The Sichuan shale gas blocks have a total proven reserve of 1.06 trillion cubic meters, according to CNPC.

Li said the company will encourage technological innovations and expand the exploration of unconventional energy resources such as shale gas.

Developing domestic crude production is critical for China, which is the world’s largest consumer of oil. Last year, it imported 440 million metric tons of crude oil. The country has stepped up efforts to boost domestic production by 50 percent, increasing it by more than two million barrels per day over the next five years.

Poor Women in Malawi Forced to Trade Sex for Fish

MANGOCHI, MALAWI (VOA News) - Along the shores of Lake Malawi, poverty and food shortages are chronic problems, due to declining fish catches in the lake. Women facing hunger, or trying to feed their families, sometimes resort to having sex with fishermen in order to get something to eat.

Women carrying buckets each morning to buy fish at Lake Malawi is a common sight in the Makawa area.

A less fortunate common sight is many of the women paying for the fish with sex.

Cecelia Iman is secretary of the Village Beach Committee, responsible for taking care of lake resources in the area.

“[The practice] really happens here. Most fishermen came to the lake with a mission that they will find women right here. But the relationships do not last, they only bring problems to village women,” Iman said.

The women are lured into transactional sex when they don’t have enough money to buy fish, or when they accept an overture from fishermen, say local officials.

“For example, one can have MK 2,000 but want go to the lake to buy some fish and there, one fisherman offers her free fish. Taking into account that she didn’t eat last night together with her child, she would end up accepting the offer which would end into something,” Iman said.
Poverty is forcing women at Lake Malawi into transactional sex when they don’t have enough money to buy fish.
The practice has brought a lot of misery to the women.

Iman says, “If the prevalence of HIV infection is increasing in our area, it is largely because of fishermen. Women are too desperate for fish. And also most of the fishermen are just impregnating the women then run away, leaving them struggle taking care of babies.”

Although transactional sex between women and fishermen in Lake Malawi is rampant, stigma and discrimination make it difficult to identify those involved.

One villager, Laika Atibu, told VOA she can’t allow fishermen to seduce her with fish.

“I don’t allow that. I try my best to do some piece work to raise money to buy fish. Because I fear, if I do this, I can contract HIV. And If I contract HIV, who can feed my children because I am the only parent to take care of them,” Atibu explained.

Fishermen distance themselves from the matter.

Yalid Nkhoma says using fish as a lure is tantamount to abuse of women.

He says, “We don’t do that. If a woman doesn’t have enough money to buy fish, we don’t ask to do anything with her,” Nkhoma said.

Different research shows that sex for fish in Malawi is more common between December and March because it is a period when the country is hard-hit with food shortages.

To curb the problem, community leaders have introduced economic empowerment initiatives for women, including a loan program, to ensure they have their own sources of income and don't have rely on the fishermen to stave off hunger.

Trump warns of treason, civil war; GOP congressman outraged

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is warning that the Democrat-driven impeachment proceedings and any move to oust him from office amount to “treason” and would spark a civil war, prompting outrage from a Republican congressman.

Trump tweeted a conservative pastor’s comment that removing him would provoke a “civil war-like fracture” in America.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a former Air Force pilot who represents an Illinois district Trump won in 2016, tweeted on Sunday, “I have visited nations ravaged by civil war. ... I have never imagined such a quote to be repeated by a President. This is beyond repugnant.”

Trump on Monday was thundering through a new round of counter-punches against his opponents by hammering home the suggestion that they should be arrested and charged with treason and could launch a civil war — or a combination of those. His top foes were the whistleblower whose complaint launched the House’s impeachment investigation and the congressman leading it, Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff.

“Arrest for Treason?” Trump tweeted of Schiff on Monday in one of many presidential suggestions that his opponents should be investigated for operating under their constitutional duties and within the law.

Fact check: Treason is extremely narrowly defined, both in the nation’s founding document and in federal law.

The Constitution states: “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.”

Note the word “only.” Treason occurs when a U.S. citizen, or a non-citizen on U.S. territory, wages war against the country or provides material support, not just sympathy, to a declared enemy of the United States.

That came after Trump tweeted a comment from the Rev. Robert Jeffress, pastor of the Southern Baptist megachurch First Baptist Dallas.

“If the Democrats are successful in removing the president from office, it will cause a civil war-like fracture in this nation from which our country will never heal,” Jeffress said on Sunday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends Weekend,” which Trump posted a few hours later.

Somalia: Jihadists attack US Baledogle training base

Image copyright ALAMY Image caption The Baledogle base, pictured here in 1992, is used by US troops to train commandos

Jihadists have attacked a military base where US soldiers train commandos in Somalia, causing casualties, reports say.

Local residents reported heavy blasts and gunfire at Baledogle airport in the southern Lower Shabelle region.

The al-Shabab militant group said it had carried out the attack, using a car bomb to blast through the gates before sending its fighters inside.

Military officials say the jihadists have been pushed back.

Al-Shabab said in a statement it had launched the raid and that it was ongoing.

"After breaching the perimeters of the heavily fortified base, the mujahideen [holy warriors] stormed the military complex, engaging the crusaders in an intense firefight."

The base, about 100km (60 miles) west of the capital Mogadishu, is said to house US special forces, Somali special forces and Ugandan peacekeepers. It is used as a launch site for US drones as well as being a training centre.

Separately, an Italian military convoy was hit by an explosion in Mogadishu itself, Italy's defence ministry said. No casualties have as yet been reported in this attack.

The US has sharply increased its air strikes against al-Shabab, which is linked to al-Qaeda, since President Donald Trump took power.

Officials in Somalia say the group has increased its attacks in Mogadishu as retaliation for the air strikes.

BBC Africa editor Mary Harper says the fact that al-Shabab was able to hit two foreign targets on the same day shows it is a co-ordinated force with excellent intelligence.

The US state department says al-Shabab retains control over large parts of the country and has the ability to carry out high-profile attacks using suicide bombers, explosive devices, mortars and small arms.

Cary O’Dell at the Library’s National Recording Registry is the maestro of our ever-popular Mystery Photo Contest. He’s back with another round, featuring some of Hollywood’s not-so-famous faces.

Hello fellow photo sleuths!

For your frustration, we submit to you nine more super-hard, super-obscure publicity stills that the Library is trying to identify.

This new batch, like others in the previous MPC series, came to the Library’s Moving Image section as part of a much larger collection of film, TV and music stills. Most were properly identified, but these are among those that stumped us.

So we need your help. Do any of the people, places or things below look familiar?

A few words of caution:

  • We’ve tried web-based reverse-image searches; they don’t work.
  • We have no information beyond what is listed below. There are no dates, locations or titles. They may not be from the United States.
  • Standards of proof: We’d most like to see the same photo, with the person’s name, in a newspaper, magazine or somesuch. Failing that, another image from the same photo shoot, but with the person named

Good luck to one and all!

#1 This might be vaudeville star Stella Mayhew but we haven’t been able to confirm.

#2 Another of our distinguished mystery gents.

#3 This lady reminds many of an opera star…but who knows?

#4 No, this is not your high school history teacher, at least so far as we know.  We assume he’s an actor but don’t know his name.

#5 This photo has been severely cropped as the rest of it is NSFW (!).  Hopefully someone can identify her by her face.

#6 Though, in the face, she looks a bit like Louise Fletcher, it’s not. So who is the lady in the wild hat?

#7 We have several stills, in different “looks,” for this young lady. Perhaps she was a budding actress? #8 Another cropped photo of another fetching lass whose name eludes us.

#9 This is not Ben Maddow (though that’s a good guess).  We are still attempting to identify this mystery many with camera.

Why Museveni will block investigations by FIFA

CHANGE OF GUARDS - Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) President,  Moses Magogo is set to step aside pending FIFA Investigations over the alleged sale of 2014 FIFA World Cup tickets. Magogo has revealed that he will temporarily step aside to permit pending investigations by the FIFA over the alleged sale of World Cup tickets.

However, being an international football association, FIFA may not be allowed by the Museveni regime to investigate its citizen.  His recent declaration on foreign criminal jurisdictions is very clear:
"Regarding the Foreign Govts which are fond of using these types of approach, that is their choice. It is really none of our business. It is their country and they are right to run it the way they want.
However, for Kale or other Ugandans who are suspected to have made mistakes, they will always be handled in Uganda. That is why we shall never hand any Ugandan to, for instance, the Court in The Hague- the ICC. Kale is already facing whatever mistakes he is suspected to have committed in our Courts. What value addition is, then, there from external actors?"
     Museveni's recent public statement.

Museveni has had good relations with FUFA under Magogo's leadership.  He has financially supported the national team on different occasions.  In return, FUFA has helped him fight his political and propaganda wars.  In October 2018, FUFA helped to block the opposition leader,  Bobi Wine from launching his Kyarenga concerts at the National Stadium.   In November 2018, FUFA awarded Museveni with the highest local football honour, FUFA Goals.

Moses Magogo who was recently elected a CAF Executive member representing the Cecafa region, has been FUFA president for six years, in now his second four year term.
During his reign the Cranes qualified for the Africa Nations Cup for the first time in 39 years and followed it up with a second straight Afcon appearance where they made it to the round of 16 for the first time since 1978.  He recently expressed intentions to contest for the 2021 Budiope East Parliamentary seat and obviously on the Museveni regime ticket.  Being a fraudster and corrupt is enough qualification to be a regime top  cadre.   However, you can't rule out double standards since Magogo who hails from the eastern region has no 'goat farm in Kashagama.'

Time can never mend The careless whispers of a good friend To the heart and mind Ignorance is kind But there's no comfort in the truth Pain is all you'll find I'm never gonna dance again Guilty feet have got no rhythm Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend And waste a chance that I've been given So I'm never gonna dance again The way I danced with you. Never without your love Tonight the music seems so loud I wish that we could lose this crowd Maybe it's better this way, We'd hurt each other with the things we want to say We good have been so good together We could have lived this dance forever But now who's gonna dance with me Please stay And I'm never gonna dance again Guilty feet have got no rhythm Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool Should have known better than to cheat a friend And waste a chance that I've been given So I'm never gonna dance again The way I danced with you. Now that you’re gone, now that you’re gone Now that you’re gone What I did was so wrong, so wrong That you had to leave me alone

UGANDA: Pension group @NSSFUG should teach financial literacy

The media story of NSSF saying 90% of civil servants live in poverty after age 50 must be taken very seriously.

On the same day, the same Uganda media published that former legislators are asking President Yoweri Museveni to give each of them UGX 200mln.

I think what NSSF should do is teach Financial Literacy.  Many saving plans do this.  However, in the case of Uganda, do it for working people and kids.

Junior Achievement (JA) has some excellent programs for kids.

In the past, I taught ESIS (Economics of Staying in School) which used to be a JA class and was for Grade 6 to 8 (P5 to P7 equivalent).

In ESIS, kids locate jobs, read job ads for that job, get the salary. Then with that salary, they preparea budget.  Their budget includes saving.

JA also has a module for starting a business and making it successful.

JA believes in teaching life skills early. Uganda should try it.

UGANDA: Opposition leaders need to plan for future - @HeBobiWine @MugushaMuntu @KizzaBeaigye @FDCoffilial1

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) ran a story earlier this year (2019) titled "A Wake-Up Call for Grads: Entry-Level Jobs Aren’t So Entry Level Any More".

WSJ is running that paid Ad on social media and one of them is mentioning the above article which they published in May 2019.  Why are they are running the Ad based on that article is actually very timely.

Here is the link to the original article.

I looked at the Ad I saw on Facebook, which I promptly shared with my followers.  It really was nothing different from what I have told my followers in the past.

Just look at the photo of that Ad and you will see why Uganda youth must pay attention.

What I am suggesting is the following for opposition:

Find a way to set up evening and weekend classes for your key people who will then teach in their local areas.

1) All key leaders need to attend some courses which you will arrange. Communication.  Social Media. Presentation. Interpersonal skills. Problem Solving. Financial Planning.

2) The key leaders will then teach in their local communities. Social Media. Financial Planning.  Communication.

3) After this, the next step is to teach the same to everyone in every part of Uganda.  Your people are on social media abusing me daily so why do they not use the money and time to go and learn and teach?

Uganda is generating graduates yearly who are really unemployable. The majority of them.  Not too many people are challenging this situation.  However, now that WSJ has told our graduates truth, let us work.

What we are facing as opposition is the reality that we are not challenging everyone on social media to go and share information with those who are not on social media.  You people, how is it possible that people in Eastern Uganda uproot coffee and plant mangos and mangada because these fruits will have a fruit juice factory in Palissa or Soroti AND the excess will be exported to Europe and the Middle East.  This was done when Uganda did not even have an airline.  WHY DO YOU PRIDE yourselves in educating your children when they cannot do simple things as going to Teso and telling their elders "Coffee is not a perishable product. Neither is Cotton.  Mangos and Mangada are perishable".

TRUMP: Giuliani would need Trump OK to assist in impeachment probe

Trump allies in disarray as Democrats push impeachment

WASHINGTON (Associated Press) — House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff said Sunday that he expects the whistleblower at the heart of impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump to testify “very soon.”

“All that needs to be done, at this point, is to make sure that the attorneys that represent the whistleblower get the clearances that they need to be able to accompany the whistleblower to testimony,” said Schiff, D-Calif., “and that we figure out the logistics to make sure that we protect the identity of the whistleblower.”

As Democrats and the director of national intelligence worked out key arrangements, Trump’s allies erupted in a surge of second-guessing and conspiracy theorizing across the Sunday talk shows, suggesting the White House strategy is unclear against the stiffest challenge to his presidency. One former adviser urged Trump to confront the crisis at hand and get past his fury over the probe of Russian election interference.

“I honestly believe this president has not gotten his pound of flesh yet from past grievances on the 2016 investigation,” said Tom Bossert, Trump’s former homeland security adviser. “If he continues to focus on that white whale,” Bossert added, “it’s going to bring him down.”

The Ukraine investigation produced what the Russian probe did not: formal House impeachment proceedings based on the president’s own words and actions.

The White House last week released a rough transcript of Trump’s July 25 call with Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, as well as the whistleblower’s complaint alleging the U.S. president pressured his counterpart to investigate the family of Joe Biden, the former vice president who is seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge Trump’s reelection next year.

Trump has sought to implicate Biden and his son Hunter Biden in the kind of corruption that has long plagued Ukraine. Hunter Biden served on the board of a Ukrainian gas company at the same time his father was leading the Obama administration’s diplomatic dealings with Kyiv. There has been no evidence of wrongdoing by either of the Bidens.

The House forged ahead, with Schiff’s committee leading the investigation. Democrats are planning a rapid start to their push for impeachment, with hearings and depositions starting this week. Many Democrats are pushing for a vote on articles of impeachment before the end of the year, mindful of the looming 2020 elections.

Schiff has said the whistleblower has agreed to testify. His committee has been negotiating to interview the person, who reported to the inspector general for the intelligence community that Trump had urged Zelenskiy to investigate Biden. The whistleblower also said that White House officials then moved to “lock down” the details by putting all the records of it on a separate computer system.

One of the whistleblower’s lawyers tweeted Sunday that talks were ongoing.

“We continue to work w/both parties in House & Senate and we understand all agree that protecting whistleblower’s identity is paramount,” posted Mark Zaid. “Discussions continue to occur to coordinate & finalize logistics but no date/time has yet been set.”

Trump’s allies fanned out across the Sunday talk shows with myriad responses.

Stephen Miller, the president’s senior policy adviser, called the whole inquiry a “partisan hit job” orchestrated by “a deep state operative” who is also “a saboteur.”

“The president of the United States is the whistleblower,” Miller said.

Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, promoted a debunked conspiracy theory, insisting that Ukraine had spread disinformation during the 2016 election.

Bossert advised that Trump drop that defense.

“I am deeply frustrated with what he and the legal team is doing and repeating that debunked theory to the president. It sticks in his mind when he hears it over and over again,” said Bossert, who also was an adviser to President George W. Bush. “That conspiracy theory has got to go, they have to stop with that, it cannot continue to be repeated.”

Giuliani not only repeated it but also brandished what he said were affidavits that support them and claimed that Trump “was framed by the Democrats.”

He also at one point said he would not cooperate with Schiff, but then acknowledged he would do what Trump tells him. The White House did not provide an official response on whether the president would allow Giuliani to cooperate.

“If they’re going to obstruct,” Schiff warned, “then they’re going to increase the likelihood that Congress may feel it necessary to move forward with an article on obstruction.”

Giuliani appeared on ABC’s “This Week” and CBS’ “Face the Nation,” while Schiff was interviewed on ABC and NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Bossert spoke on ABC and Miller on “Fox News Sunday.”
