#Oil report for October 30, 2017

The Haynesville shale gas basin along the Louisiana-Texas border has seen a resurgence this year.
-    The Haynesville was one of the earliest shale gas plays, having scaled up a decade ago and then declining in 2012 as the industry shifted en masse to oil drilling.
-    Now, armed with a decade of experience and new drilling techniques, shale drillers are back in the Haynesville. Shale gas production has jumped from 6 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) for the past three years up to 6.9 Bcf/d more recently.
Market Movers
•    Statoil (NYSE: STO) said it will not abandon the Arctic after a disappointing drilling year in 2017. Statoil found no commercial volumes of oil in its highly-anticipated Korpsfjell project. But the company needs to replace falling output and believes the Norwegian Arctic still has huge potential.
•    Precision Drilling (NYSE: PDS) saw its share price skyrocket by 21 percent over two days on rising oil prices combined with impressive third quarter results. Analysts see strong free cash flow and the North American drilling rebound as positive for Precision.
•    Cabot Oil & Gas (NYSE: COG) is up more than 12 percent since reporting a sharp increase in third quarter production.
Tuesday October 31, 2017
Oil jumped to $60 per barrel on Friday, and held those gains on Monday, an early sign that the oil market could be entering a new phase. Brent topped $60 per barrel for the first time in nearly two and a half years. The strong assurances from OPEC and Russian officials has the market assuming that the upcoming OPEC meeting in November will result in an extension of the production cuts, perhaps through the end of 2018. With that extension in hand, the oil bears are in retreat.
Saudi crown prince supports OPEC extension. The powerful crown prince said that he supports an extension of the OPEC cuts, the strongest signal yet that the November OPEC meeting will lead to an extension of the production limits.
Oil majors post profits. Third quarter profits for the oil majors jumped, a sign that they have adapted to a world of $50 oil. ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM), Chevron (NYSE: CVX), BP (NYSE: BP), Total SA (NYSE: TOT) reported strong profit growth, proof that cost-cutting is bearing fruit. The majors have slashed a combined $80 billion in spending since 2013. Royal Dutch Shell (NYSE: RDS.A) reports earnings this week.
BP to restart share buybacks. BP (NYSE: BP) said that it would restart its share buyback program after reporting a replacement cost profit – similar to net income – of $1.4 billion in the third quarter, down a bit from $1.7 billion a year earlier. The company declined to reveal a value on its buyback plans. The British oil giant had scrapped share repurchasing back in 2014 amid falling oil prices, but has made strides in adapting to lower oil prices. BP said that it can breakeven with oil prices at $49 per barrel.
WTI backwardation coming. Reuters argues that falling U.S. oil inventories are a sign of a shift towards backwardation for WTI, a state in which near-term oil contracts trade at a premium to longer-dated oil futures. With Brent already in a state of backwardation, the downward sloping futures curve for WTI would be another signal that the oil market is tightening. Backwardation tends to appear during periods of market tightening and would suggest higher oil prices are possible.
Appalachian gas can’t keep rising. A top executive from Range Resources (NYSE: RRC) said that shale gas production in Appalachia – home to the Marcellus Shale, the most prolific in the U.S. – cannot continue to rise on its upward trajectory. Appalachian gas drillers will eventually experience "sweet spot exhaustion," Alan Farquharson, senior vice president of Range Resources, said at an industry conference. "As you drill longer and longer laterals, it minimizes the number of wells it takes to develop that core position," Farquharson said. "As a result, the core of the acreage gets drilled up, you have to step out to tier one, tier two and tier three wells, which means you get lower productivity per well."
Saudi Aramco IPO “on track,” but where will it list? Saudi officials have tried to stamp down speculation that they will abandon the highly-anticipated partial IPO of Aramco. But as Bloomberg reports, they have been careful not to reveal where the listing might occur, meaning they could still opt for a domestic offering only. "We have said publicly that Tadawul is for certain,” Mohammed Al-Jadaan, Saudi finance minister, told the FT, referring to the Saudi stock exchange. "Are we going to go with an international market? If we go, where are we going? And if we go, are we going public or we are going private?"
Trump to roll back protections for Bears Ears. President Trump will reportedly travel to Utah in December to announce a shrinking of the borders of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments. The paring back of protection for public lands is relevant to the energy industry in the case of Bears Ears, where some shale drillers have been interested in exploration.
Free-market groups come out against possible solar tariff. President Trump is considering tariffs on imported solar panels, a move that could decimate the solar industry in the U.S. But 10 free market conservative organizations are lobbying the White House to reject import tariffs. "If trade restrictions are imposed, the cost of solar products in the United States could double, endangering tens of thousands of good-paying domestic jobs within the solar industry," the conservative groups said in a letter sent to the president.
Futures contract to be launched for lithium and cobalt. The London Metal Exchange (LME) said that it would launch futures contracts for cobalt and lithium as soon as 2019, a recognition that the push for electric vehicles has drastically ramped up demand for a variety of metals. The LME will “be working with the battery and electric-vehicle industries over the coming months to deliver new contracts such as lithium and cobalt sulfate to bring price risk management to this rapidly growing market,” the exchange’s CEO Matthew Chamberlain said in a statement.
Sinopec considering U.S. investment to boost access to crude. Sinopec is weighing investments in two major U.S.-based projects as means to gain access to more U.S. crude. One project is a pipeline that would connect Permian oil to the U.S. Gulf Coast for export. Sinopec and some U.S. partners are exploring crude storage facilities in the Caribbean.

Trick or treat

Give me something good to eat
Not too big not too small
Just the size of Montreal!
=====
For all my friends in Canada and USA.

I have never forgotten you.
You stood by me during my most hard time in my life.

You made me stronger.

When Ugandans called for my death, you dared them to try it.

You fed me.

You loved my girls like your own.

You made me walk out of hospitals to come and fight for my people.

My people abandoned me.

In all my life, Whites (Bazungu) loved me more than my own.

Naturally, it is a life mission to tell Uganda that white people are not the enemies.

You loved me with no conditions.

I am now white.

Do ya think I should bleach my skin?

But in your insane love, you accepted me as a black person.

Naturally, I think you need sun so you stop being so pale.

I am thinking that when the war is over, you will sunbathe in Uganda.

Uganda is majestic.  We are on the equator with nature beyond belief.

Uganda is paradise.

We just have some things we are working on.

Uganda is the biggest world buyer of teargas to silence dissent.

Our people are shot dead on live camera.

We have no ambulances but have military tanks to arrest unarmed vicilians.

Most of Uganda does not have public libraries.

Uganda has 85% unemployment.

Some 10 million Ugandans go hungry.

Ugandan university graduates get sold as slaves to Arabs.

Yet Uganda is The Pearl of Africa.

I now call it The Peril of Africa.

Please do not come to Uganda yet. Wait a bit.  You might get malaria and die.

Please wait until we clean up the country.  My friends and I.

Your biggest help now is not to send money to Uganda.

Above all, do not come as a tourist. A civil war is underway.

Canadian born in Uganda

#Ugandans are #Sex deprived - #Parenting #Education

So I am sitting here minding my own bizwaks as you all should do.

The phone buzes. Quick check.

Some idiot said that Ugandans are getting tickets to fly to Canada.

They are being recruited with big money to be gay.

I quick run out of bed to the computer.

Why is no one recruiting me with big money to be gay?  I am a Canadian for crying out loud! Why is it that Uganda always gets the best deals?

Imagine my shock, Canada does not give money or recruit gays. They only do it for Ugandans.

My spirit was broken by a call at 3am.

I crawled back into my bed and told Prince Peter, "I hate imbecilles. Never contact me again".

As I lay back to sleep, I pondered about Uganda.  They have a very easy life.

They get recruited into gay with big money.

And all this time Canada did not find me worthy of being paid for being gay.

The Great Awakening!

Anyway, my CV nows announces on the first paragraph "I am gay".

The second paragraph says "I have Critical Thinking Skills".

You can bet that the second paragraph is excluding me from jobs.  The world hates thinkers. But I ain't deleting it.

If you love me being gay, then love me for having common sense.

Uganda is on a collision course.  My sexual orientation has never put medicine in your hospitals, paid your army or police nor funded your schools.

Yet you are the country with 85% unemployment because Leah chose to be gay!

You are your own enemy. For you accept MEDIOCRITY and attack anyone who tells you that the status quo is the reason your millions go hungry daily.

Your acceptance of mediocrity is why the GMO bill was passed while you were obsessing over #Togyikwatako.

Were I in opposition, I would allow Museveni to rule for life on condition that the Land bill is thrown out. For a fact, GMO is shaping up the land bill.

So much easier to fight over #AgeLimit and yet the biggest issue is your land.

#Uganda #Media crucifies their biggest patron @FrankGashumba

You demons of stupidity, I will take you down one by one.

Afterall you all grovel at the table of President Yoweri Museveni to beg for bread crumbs.

Welcome to the 21st century.  Some of us do not depend on a dictatorial fascist regime to feed us.

What I am finding shocking about Gashumba being arrested is that all key media is printing the story with no brains at all.

Earlier this year, Al Jazeera held a journalism ICT summit in Dubai.  It was live streamed.

No media house in Uganda attended it.  The summit was live streamed.  And no journalist in Uganda tuned into the live streaming.

Imagine my shock when some journalists tell me they had no data to stream the summit.

But we depend on you. We rely on you.  We depend on what you say.

So you miss one of the bigfest media tech summits because you have no data?  How is that even legal in this age?  And in media?

This Frank Gashumba all Uganda media is villifying because "everyone is talking about it" should learn from Irving Oil.

Irving Oil got so sick of media houses talking bad about them.  So they just bought the media houses and sacked the editors.

When Gashumba gets released, I suggest that he buys out all the media stories who are vilifying him and sacks all the editors. Gashumba is loaded.  He once used to be their darling when he was awakening Ugandans. Now he is their enemy.

The sad thing is all Ugandans are watching how media is playing this story.  How so gullible can you be?

Your master Muchebeni is self destructing daily and yet you choose to stick with a sinking ship!

I went to a party one time while in University.

The guy who had taken me there told me to get high. I told him just because everyone was smoking weed and shooting heroin, I did not have to do it.

Tim told me "but everyone is doing it. You must fit".

TIM, it is stupid to think that just because everyone is sticking a needle in their arm loaded with heroin does not make me fit out.  It is tupid.

I called a cab and left my friends to get high.

I had a big exam the next day by a teacher who enjoyed watching me fail.

So what? Gashumba story is all over social media!  Do you think I should gone with group think and shot heroin?

#UseYourBrainMyBrother

Everyone talking about Gashumba does not mean you also should just blindly dispate what we know are lies!

May you live in poverty forever. AMEN

Martha Leah Nangalama
I strongly believe the arrest of Gashumba is a distraction.  He has never been a spy or thug. I bet my life on him.

#Uganda #Marburg #Ebola update

MSF is in the God forsaken country which some people call #Uganda for intervention after some 2 people died from Marburg.

You see, this is why such organisations lose meaning.

Where was MSF during the #Acholi genocide?

Where was MSF during Bundibugyo?

Were was MSF during the #Kasese #Genocide?

Who funds you?

Do you intervene when 2 are reported dead?

Not to discredit your work as a family friend Dr. Bruno Vittel has volunteered in #Africa.

But why do you intervene in a country that slaughters thousands and now show up on a record of 2 dead?
😡😡😡😡

It would be more prudent for you to show up when thousands are being killed.  Even better, show up when millions are evicted off land to end up in slums scrounging for food and drinking unsafe water!

Mais je blague.  You will show up when we get #Typhoid.

Did you ever stop to think about why we have curable and preventable diseases in Uganda?

You fly to my home area for 2 dead.

Do you know people from East Uganda dia daily from #Cholera, hunger, cancer, teargas and live bullets?

You have an image problem. Do better.

Meanwhile while in Uganda for your global image, may thunder strike you. Amen.

May you get malaria. Amen.

May you run into an accident on massacre road. Amen.

May you find out that we have more tanks and jets than ambulances. Amen.

May your plane not take off because a terrorist is on it and EBB is laid under siege. Amen.

May you get a bad belly ache. Amen.

May you take the curse back to your country. Amen.
====

Two teams from Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) are currently intervening in eastern Uganda, supporting local health authorities and partner organisations in responding to an outbreak of Marburg hemorrhagic fever.

So far, three people died from the disease (one suspect case and two confirmed cases) on 25 September, 13 October and 26 October respectively. They all belonged to the same family. The first two cases died in Kapchorwa hospital, while the third case died in the treatment unit in Kween health centre.

MSF is focusing its intervention around case management, and support to contact tracing and mapping. In Kween, MSF has set up and is running a 10-bed treatment unit, and an MSF epidemiologist is helping local health authorities with contact tracing –  listing and monitoring people who have been in contact with identified cases. In Kapchorwa, MSF, together with the Ministry of Health, is running a nine-bed treatment unit within the existing district hospital.

Marburg virus disease is similar to Ebola – early symptoms are not specific and include fever, headache, fatigue, nausea. Like Ebola, it can be lethal in up to 90 per cent of cases.

There is currently no officially-approved vaccine or treatment against the disease, as no product has currently completed its clinical research path. However, existing drugs have shown at least partial efficacy against other filoviruses, and their use in the frame of a compassionate use scheme is currently being investigated by MSF and local health authorities.

MSF first intervened in Uganda in 1980. The medical humanitarian organization currently runs emergency programs to assist South Sudanese refugees in the North of the country, as well as longer-term programs in Arua and Kasese districts. Here, focus is put on HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and other infectious diseases, as well as access to healthcare for populations with specific needs (adolescents, fishermen communities, sex workers, amongst others).

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF

#Uganda regime by #Dictator @KagutaMuseveni is now arresting activists @FrankGashumba @aKasingye @UPDFspokesperson

I was sitting here minding my own business. But since it is halloween, I decided to check my WhatsApp to see what horror stories Uganda was telling the world.

Quick, I jump out of my bed. Naked. Yeah..this one set me off.

So I get on the laptop as I had left my glasses by the laptop.

What the heck? Phones have small print.

First message I read was with the picture you see.  "Who is Frank Gashumba? Do you know him?"

And this is where Things Fall Apart!

You see this night, I had come to the acception that there is no way in hell I was born in Uganda. I had slept like a bambina.

So I replied to my sweetheart.

"Anyone can buy army fatigue. Do you know he also sometimes dresses like an Arab Sheikh?"

My friend did not respond. I wait 5 mins, 10, 30. No response.

Jump into the shower to head into Moncton for a silly meeting which kinda ruined my Friday.

So in the car, I am on my phone checking which other shit had hit the phone while I was making plans in my sleep to declare to Muchebeni that Bududa was gonna declare independency from The Banana Republic.

Imagine my shock. Twitter, all emails, WhatsApp and Facebook were saying Frank Gashumba had been arrested!

Say what?

I cycle Uganda media. It is true.  By now I have knocked back a few cups of Arabica coffee.

Have you all run mad?  Gashumba been spying for Kagame?

Water and oil do not mix. One stays up on the surface.

There is no way in hell Gashumba is a spy! I bet my life on this.

President Yoweri Museveni has over 100 advisers.

But hiring idiots comes with a price.

Frank Gashumba is loved and hated by many.  Because he has courage to speak truth.

In fascist states, people who speak truth are labeled as enemies.

Fascist govts impoverish people. People end up accepting crumbs from the high table and get to speak lies.

Is it Gashumba's truth telling that has annoyed dictator Muchebeni?

Or is it Gashumba's success as a business man that has annoyed you?

Is it because Gashumba posted on his Facebook page (which by the way has more followers than any Uganda media house) "prepare to go into exile, die or be poisoned" that has now turned Ugandans against him?

By the way his post was 100% accurate. One would have to be an idiot not to realise that he spoke truth.

Is it legislated in Uganda not to use basic common sense?

Perhaps Emotional Intelligence is also forbiden.

Ugandans hate Andrew Mwenda with a passion.  But Mwenda is not wrong when he says "Critical Thinking Courses must be made mandatory in all Uganda Universities".

You find a university graduate asking Martha Leah "what do you think of Gashumba spying for Kagame?"

Quelle horeur!

The only person in Uganda who spies for Kagame is Kayihura authorized by Muchebeni.

You will remember my words soon.

Kayihura is gonna be President of The Republic of Uganda.

Go ahead and villify Gashumba. He told you truth.

I am ready to make a deal. Release Gashumba and I will turn myself in. After all, Canada will pay my family a cool $10 million if you torture me!

Grow brains people. Gashumba is not an enemy.  But some of you are.

Never think that Muchebeni is tupid.  By the time he is done, he will have sorted out the chaff.

Why does @Paypal not cater to #Uganda?

To start off, Paypal is the most respected merchant service provider in the world.  Respect Paypal.

Having owned businessses in the past, I know merchant online service providers. I still choose Paypal over others.

This does not mean that I do not know loopholes.

My friends in Uganda ask me why Paypal discriminates against Uganda.

It is because your banking system is totally fucked up.

Wanji? How so?

Your central bank you call BoU prints money and watches banks collapse.

What happened to UCB, Greenland, Baroda, Gold, Egypt, and this year the biggest Crane Bank?

The world does not work with bullshit.

Paypal needs you to connect your bank account and credit card or both.

Paypal also does not do money laundering. Reason your bank account has to be connected.

But you people in Uganda are using banks which are not legible for international transactions and you except a merchant service procider like Paypal to allow you to move money.

Working with Paypal is very easy. If your bank is legit, Paypal already has your bank.

There are many banks in Uganda who are Paypal certified.

I think you need a descent account with your bank. Money talks, bullshit walks.

Yet far too many of you just want donations or payments you do not want to declare. Paypal is about transperancy.

Go open an account with Stambic or Barclays!

This Paypal you want, does not allow money laundering.

NOTE to self, connect my Uganda to Paypal.

Paypal will ask for your national ID for tax purposes.

Martha Leah Nangalama
PS: I can receive payments on your behalf and forward you the money. I will hold back 52% of it since that is my tax rate.

The SPORTS site was meant for drop shipping of Uganda sports memorabilia.  Sadly, FUFA and Cranes were too hard to work with.  I have courier accounts for shipping but Uganda could not pack and ship.  So perhaps I was ahead of Uganda.  The sports site is cheap to buy.

AFRICAPearl will cost you a bit though.  This is the site which is supposed to say all the great things about the Pearl of Africa.  Hit me and give me an offer.

Both sites are booked, registered and my web designer will build anything you want.

I have many other domains but in time.

VIDEO: #Cameroon #Dictator #Biya sentences opposition leader to 25yrs in jail

A military court in Cameroon sentenced an opposition leader on Monday to 25 years in prison, his lawyer and Amnesty International said and denounced the trial as politically motivated.

The court convicted Aboubakar Siddiki, the president of northern Cameroon's main opposition party, of hostility against the homeland as well as revolution and contempt of the president over accusations he plotted to destabilize the country.
“We are going to appeal this decision, which does not seem to us to be at all just,” Siddiki’s lawyer, Emmanuel Simh, told Reuters. In a statement, Amnesty said the prosecution was part of a government campaign to stifle its critics.
The government denies the charges are political.
Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds arrested in a crackdown in recent months on protests in Cameroon’s English-speaking regions.
Residents there say they suffer social and economic marginalization in the predominantly Francophone country.
The protests have become a lightning rod for opposition to President Paul Biya’s 35-year rule.
Besides Siddiki, the court sentenced Abdoulaye Harissou, a well-known notary, to three years in prison for failure to denounce a crime. The court also dropped charges against three journalists arrested in connection with the same case.

Swords drawn between #Uganda @PoliceUg, #Army @UPDFspokespersn

Swords drawn between the Uganda Police (UPF) and the Uganda Defence Poeple's Forces (UPDF)
.................................................................................................................................

This morning, i had a rare opportunity of meeting two former intelligence chiefs in very rare circumstances. So l wash my cars in two washing bays and specifically after making a phone call. This morning, after the downpour, i drove to one of them and after parking, and asking for some tea, another gentleman drove in and parked next to me. He came to the shade and i quickly recognised him.

I expressed my salutations and introduced myself to which he quickly reminded me of the 2008 incidences at the Independent publication. He asked me not to insult his intelligence because he remembers me. So my tea came and he asked for cold water. He made mention of my posts here and told me he would tell me something if i bought him some waragi and MTN airtime of UGX 2000.

It was 10 am in the morning but i am not one to judge because i have, many times, left a bar at 8am in the morning. So i quickly walked to a shop to buy his goodies and i bump into another former intelligence chief, walking to a destination he did not disclose. For a moment, i was very impressed by this fellow. He has a car but prefers to walk to see his environment. He even asked that i walk infront of him so that if they were to kill me, they kill me not him. We laughed. He asked what i was doing in that area. He also asked if my lungs could "pull" up the hill incase we had to run for our lives. I told him it was not easy to kill John Njoroge. He laughed, walked ahead of me and left me.

I did not want him to know i had met  someone of his status because today the relationship between security outfits in Uganda is very fluid.

Buying waragi and airtime paid off. I even paid for his car wash. The man soon opened up.

He opened his small laptop bag and brought out printouts of radio messages shared with him. When in security circles, you remain in the loop. You have people giving you info. I wanted to take pictures but he refused.

The Uganda Police has resolved to now undertake its own missions without including the military and other security outfits. "Instructions from above."

Additionally, the young senior officers of the Uganda Police, whom Gen Kale kayihura has groomed and treated with care want to protect him. They are only waiting for a "go-ahead".

CMI has finalised its documentation on the atrocities carried out by kayihura and his most trusted. Briefs are even as i write being shared among specific NGO heads to be supplied to many sources. For the first time all intelligence organs are ganging up against the Uganda Police.

Before i could finish, the man had done two toots of Uganda waragi and made a phone call which was clearly a money call. He left me there, jumped on a bodaboda with his laptop bag, saying he would return. I waited. They finished my car and his. I was leaving and they told me "please to wait for the other man because sometimes he comes and does not pay". I paid for him.

Going to look for him later today.

What i read i cannot write here. It is fresh intelligence and it is treason to reveal such. What i can tell you my people is that we are heading for trouble. As Yoweri tries to make things better, they are only getting worse.

God be with us.

John Njoroge reports.
