#Easter while hunger, violence, diseases and brutality reign - #Uganda

It is not easy to be in a celebratory mood in most African countries now and not too many places in the rest of the world either. The evens leading up to this Easter of 2015 have been very traumatic. We have had far too many un necessary deaths (plane crash, natural disasters, "terrorist" attacks", brutality like we have never seen in the past). We basically have nearly the whole world at war with each other. Even in our own families, we are at war with each other. We are at war with our friends, colleagues, you name anyone.

When Jesus was crucified, it was not to encourage these insane murders, the brutality and the deaths. If I remember my Bible teachings, Jesus died so that we would live, and live a good life. However, as Christians, we have forgotten most of His teachings. We hate with a passion. We sin like no other (and sinning is forgiven by God) but even the sinners condemn the others for sinning. We have become one of the most selfish people ever. We share nothing.

We loot and steal. We actually steal from mothers and their babies. We take from the poor, instead of giving to the poor. We mock the homeless, instead of giving them shelter. We laugh at addicts and people who have been in jail. We take land, the only asset many poor people have, we take it as investors. We cheer the politicians who bribe us for our votes. We ridicule our teachers, doctors, nurses, other civil servants. We mock our priests, clerics and pastors (I am guilty of this one but some had it coming).

How can we celebrate one man dying for us when we trash all the people we meet and even our most beloved ones? We are traitors. We have even decided to forget the last commandment. We teach hate. HATE with a passion. We no longer care for our elders. We let our elders die of neglect. We enjoy all the modern IT things. ohlalala (I am guilty too but my elders are not going hungry). We have no compassion. Do you know that a human being was born naturally loving, compassionate and kind? What have we done? We have socialized our children to become monsters and we cannot blame the youth anymore. Us as parents have lost our way.

I think while you celebrate this Easter, reflect on what we have done. I saw we, because I am also guilty. Use this is a chance to return to love. Love is God. God is Love. Jesus died for loving us. Many other leaders and teachers have died for loving us so that we could be more human.
