#Uganda police, Intel, army must know without love of the people, you are doomed

A friend of mine told me a story about 4yrs ago.  He was one of the UPDF people fighting Museveni's war in #DRCongo.  I asked him why he was not scared.  I wish I could talk with him now but I have a tendency to always lose people's phone numbers.

He said that when they were in DRC, they relied on the people.  The people loved and protected them.  Fed and housed them because they were being terrorised by unknown people.

This is where it gets interesting.  He said that the rebels used to dress in army uniforms with civilian clothes underneath.  When they would see Kabila's army coming after them, they would tear off the army uniforms and then go as civilians.  The villagers would hide them and then lay waiting.

Then UPDF would show up and all the villagers would tell them who the killers were.  You see, the killers had not earned the love of the villages but UPDF had earned the love of the people.

This is what Ugandans in the forces are missing.  The people will protect you but will remember everyone of you who has terrorised them.  Do you think Amin and Obote supporters were hunted down by the next regime?  Non, the people turned them over to the next regime.

I love Gen. Mugisha Muntu when he said something within 28 seconds that many people in Ugandan forces should listen to.  "Make sure what you do in uniform will protect you when you are out there and not in uniform".  BANG!
