#Sports for Kids on #Parenting and #SoccerMoms tournaments
The bags are packed and the 2 girls will be playing in a tournament in Saint John, New Brunswick and apparently staying in a hotel with a swimming pool because they also have to play on Saturday and if all goes well, they will play for gold on Sunday.
This is the season. There are 3 back to back weekends with their team at Moncton High and then the next 3 weekends are with their Moncton Club. So much driving. Hotel and food. Gasoline. School is missed usually all of Friday or most of it. Their coaches have to make them do homework in the hotels every weekend and catch up with the lessons they missed on Friday.
Then the parents. Whose turn is it to drive the kids this weekend and who is paying the hotel and food? Over and over. But this does not only happen in March and April. It also happens in October and November. So our lives are basically not our lives.
But to see the joy on a child's face when they get a medal. Min and Mini have a lot of medals and so does Andrew. We do not even count anymore. These games for them have become an avenue for them to check out their competition in the 4 Maritime provinces and across Canada. Only Andrew played the Nationals but the two girls were side judges in the nationals which were held in Moncton.
Hopefully this year for this summer they will try for the nationals. The nationals will likely be held in Vancouver so it involves 2 flights and then the usual hotel and food and car rental. But for some reason the two girls want to keep improving before they hit nationals. The Moncton Club has something interesting. Natasha is helping to coach the younger kids. In return, one of the olympic champions is going to coach her.
