THE WORLD SHOULD BE BOTHERED ABOUT THE SHENANIGANS GOING ON IN THE GREAT LAKES REGION. DICTATOR #MUSEVENI AND #KABILA ARE UP TO SOMETHING.
In Uganda, a new regional collaboration center for the fight against ADF was inaugurated on Saturday 18 February, 2017. An initiative originally discussed at the the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) summit in Angola in June 2016.
#DRCongo has been experiencing renewed violence attributed to the ADF. Located in Kasese, western Uganda, near the Congolese border, this officially inaugurated building will house the "joint monitoring mechanism to better combat the rebel group. The center, located some sixty kilometers from the Congolese border post in Mpondwe, is intended to house the new joint monitoring mechanism.
"The joint monitoring mechanism is an instrument of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR)," said Zachary Muburi-Muita, Executive Secretary of the ICGLR. It is a decision of the ICGLR Heads of State that instructed the Defense Ministers to establish a subcommittee that includes the DRC, Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya; In order to set up a military intelligence center here to monitor the activities of the ADF to act proactively. "
For Ugandan army spokesman Richard Karemire, it is a question of being more effective in the fight against this rebellion: "Each member state will make available 2 officers who have experience in intelligence. They will work together and for now Uganda will head the team. Thus, we hope to be better informed in order to conduct effective operations against the rebels. What are the factors that make ADFs continue to be active in the region? This is one of the key issues we want to see through this center. "
An initial budget of $ 600,000 is foreseen to launch the work of this new mechanism.
