US Permanent Secretary to the UN Security Council Spoke - #Uganda

FULL STATEMENT TO THE UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL BY THE US PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE TO THE UNITED NATIONS, SAMANTHA POWER, IN WHICH SHE WARNED THAT MUSEVENI IS ENDANGERING UGANDA'S FUTURE. Plus special comment by Free Uganda, the pro-democracy liberation platform.
[Posted by Dr Vincent Magombe, Secretary Free Uganda Leadership Committee and Press Secretary FU - 24 March 2016]
Ugandans have welcomed the unequivocal criticism and condemnation of the Ugandan despot Yoweri #Museveni by the United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Samantha Powers, particularly where she states thus: "...President Museveni’s actions contravene the rule of law and jeopardize Uganda’s democratic progress, threatening Uganda’s future stability and prosperity".
Now the real challenge to our American friends is - CAN YOU DO MUCH MORE THAN SIMPLY CRITICISING MUSEVENI, TO HELP END THIS IMPUNITY?
Can you review your diplomatic relationship, military collaboration, business contacts with this militaristic, trigger-happy, gung-ho brute who is causing so much pain to the people of Uganda and the entire East and Central African region?
To our American friends, Free Uganda, the pro-democracy liberation platform says this - please look deep into your own hearts, and examine your moral and ethical bearings, and find out whether saying one perfect thing - i.e. condemning and castigating the 'devil in our midst', while at the same time embracing him and holding hands in so-called 'fraternal partnership' is the best way to serve the interests of the Peoples of America and Uganda.
We in Uganda know, for sure that America and all the other democratic nations of the world can do better than that. The world must learn from Africa's recent history, for example the Rwandan genocide of 1994, and you remain inactive, even when saying and uttering the right things, the inevitable tragedy of unimaginable magnitude is bound to occur.
Is that what the United Nations, the United States government, the other democratic nations of the world, etc., are waiting to happen in Uganda, before they can be forced to act against one of worst and most brutal despots on the African continent?
Museveni and band of marauding killers are busy murdering innocent Ugandans each passing day; they are busy shutting down all avenues of peaceful protest and defiance, forcing Ugandan people to start any other effective means of defending themselves - and the Americans and the so-called democratic nations of the world still thin it is okay to do business with Museveni; Museveni has arrested all the main opposition leaders and kidnapped thousands of pro-democracy activists - now holding them in unknown places - and the so-called international community still believe that the Ugandan despot is some one to be called His Excellency.
Museveni and his family have entrenched their family rule in the land, with Museveni s president, his wife - Janet Museveni as minister and most powerful influencer of state house policy-making processes; Museveni's brother General Slim Saleh, as the most powerful overseer al military matters n the land; Museveni's son Brigadier Muhoozi Kaneirugaba, as the all powerful Commander of the Special Forces Command, which also doubles as Museveni's presidential guard brigade; and a one Sam Kutesa, who is Museveni's in-Iaw as the country's foreign minister, etc etc, - and the world out there still things are normal in the Tropical Land called Uganda. Suffice to note that even as the killings and brutalisation of Ugandans is going on, carried out by, among others, Brigadier Muhoozi Kaneirugaba's Special Forces Command (SFC), United States Special Forces remain camped in Uganda, training and arming these brutal murderers of innocent Ugandan citizens.
What will it take for the world out there to wake up to the more-than-real possibility of a genocide is happening in Museveni's Uganda? What do they think will happen when the People of Uganda decide that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH we will now pour on the streets in our millions, come what may?
That we will now make our peaceful stand against injustice and human degradation and subjugation? Do they think that the hundreds of thousands on Museveni's murder squads - Muhoozi's SFC gun-totting bandits masquerading as modern-day Special Forces, General Kayihura's killer thugs - the so-called flying squads and 'crime preventers', etc will not kill innocent Ugandans en-masse? So let this be our solemn call to all those who call themselves 'Friends of the Ugandan People' - the Americans, the British, the European Union, etc, to wake up to the tragic events unfolding in Uganda today.
THIS, FRIENDS, IS NOT A MERE POLITICAL STALEMATE AFTER A RIGGED ELECTION. This is a HUMAN CATASTROPHE OF UNIMAGINABLE PROPORTIONS in the making. Simply put a Rwanda-style Genocide is in the offing in Uganda today. Only that unlike in Rwanda, the Ugandan mass-murders are not going to be your 'standard type' of genocide, as defined by the moral thinker of the world - i.e that genocide can only be 'genocide' if it is the "...systematic elimination of a cultural, ethnic, linguistic, national, racial or religious group..." Museveni's genocide in Uganda is not going to be directed at only one group of people.
This is going to be a nationwide campaign of systemic and premeditated mass murder of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of innocent Ugandan citizens belonging to different ethnicities, different religions, different political leanings, etc. If the world does not wake up now and do something about this man called Museveni, tomorrow let no one say they were not forewarned.
The Struggle continues.
Continues.http://www.ugandandiasporanews.com/2016/03/23/diplomacy-remarks-by-amb-samantha-powers-u-s-permanent-representative-to-the-united-nations-on-conflict-prevention-in-the-great-lakes-region-feature-uganda/
