Rugunda was the minister of health in the Ugandan government before he was given the position of Prime Minister to replace the much loved or hated Amama Mbabazi. Mbabazi is a different story. Now this Rugunda is working very hard to help #Uganda. Personally, I have no faith in him at all because of whom he reports to. No more spinning about Uganda. The people are very angry. We all love Rugunda, Mbabazi et al. Lukewarm on Museveni. It is funny how every sycophant Ugandan person in a leadership position forgets that our people are going to bed with no food. We cannot afford school fees. We cannot fly abroad for medical treatment. Our roads flood like fish ponds. THEN, and then, we have to act like nothing is wrong. Who on earth thinks that a 90% unemployment rate among graduates is okay? You would have to be living in bubble. AND oh yes, it must be a bubble for you not to realise that VIPs are getting murdered and any opposition is getting silenced via silence or boda boda killers or ADF, Al Shabaab or even your own family. Some of us do not even eat a meal with our loved ones because poison is now something that is very serious. Shaaaa.. You can arrest one of us but two will show up.
WE ARE IN AGREEMENT. NOW CAN YOU PLEASE REPEAT THIS TO YOUR BOSS? LET ME GIVE YOU A SPEECH YOU CAN USE. "Mwalimu Nyerere never massacred people. Mwalimu Nyerere never sold his country to Asia. Mwalimu Nyerere never sanctioned land grabbing. Mwalimu Nyerere never abandoned health care in TZ and sent his family abroad to have a baby. Mwalimu Nyerere never re-colonized his country via Asia. Because once he fought for independence for TZ, he dared not allow anyone else to colonize his country. Mwalimu Nyerere believed in the liberation of Uganda so much that he sacrificed his people to "liberate" us. I am of the opinion that Mwalimu Nyerere is not happy in his grave. Pray tell us brother, who sells Lake Victoria, Uganda Commercial Bank, Uganda Cooperative Socitiers, Uganda Airlines, Uganda Energy Board, Uganda Telecom, etc.? Would you like some stories? Like when Uganda borrowed $67 million from the World Bank to keep Uganda Commercial Bank alive and then turned around and sold the bloody thing for $7 million. I am still waiting for the paper work on the $60 milllion. Did you know that our country managed to vanish 430 million Euros from The Global Fund? Would be nice to have Nyerere explain to us why he felt so strongly that Ugandan needed to be liberated.
For God and My Country. The news article follows. If you can answer my questions to Mwalimu Nyerere, you know where to find me. My people are awake.
Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda yesterday used the Mass for the beatification of the first president of Tanzania, the late Julius Kambarage Nyerere, to praise him as the greatest black man to have lived on the African continent.
Representing President Museveni at a Mass held at the mini-basilica in Namugongo, Dr Rugunda said the late Nyerere was a good mobiliser and organiser, who led to the liberation of many African countries, most especially those in Southern Africa.
“Mwalimu should be declared a Saint because he was born a political leader and also a fighter…On the political side, he contributed immensely to the liberation of Tanzania, East Africa and Southern Africa from Mozambique to Angola, from Zambezi River to Cape Town,” Dr Rugunda said.
Dr Rugunda said other great African men, who made contributions include Kwame Nkrumah, Nelson Mandela, Samora Machel, Jomo Kenyatta, Gamel Abdel Nasser, Col Maummar Gaddafi and John Garang, among others.
The Prime Minister said Mwalimu Nyerere orgainsed people and helped them achieve their ideas.
Hundreds of Tanzanian pilgrims and other Christians yesterday joined Ms Maria Nyerere, the widow of the Mwalimu Nyerere, for the ninth beatification Mass for her husband held at the Catholic Martyrs Shrine in Namugongo.
In his sermon, the main celebrant, Fr Lawrence Kenyi of Kyambogo University, said Nyerere was selfless in his service to Tanzania.
“Every time before going to office as a head of state, Nyerere would head to church to attend Mass where he served as an altar boy,” said Fr Kenyi.
He said the late Nyerere sacrificed for Tanzanians and left them united and lived a simple life by treating everyone as a human being regardless of their status.
“Faith is free from desire. It is that excessive desire that is destroying society,” Fr Kenyi added.
The joyous Tanzanian pilgrims, majority donned in Africa kitenge outfits with scarfs of the Tanzania flags around their heads, and sang Swahili hymns, were asked to emulate Nyerere who united Tanganyika and Zanzibar to form Tanzania.
Mr Godfrey Madaraka Nyerere, who represented the Nyerere family, thanked Christians and the government of Uganda for always organising the Mass.
Mr Madaraka said he hopes Nyerere will beatified to become a saint. The intercessional prayers were organised under theme: “Happy is the Nation whose King/President fears God.”
Nyerere is among those Rome declared as East African’s servants of God.
They include Nyerere (2005), Kenya’s first Cardinal Maurice Micheal Otunga (2011), Uganda’s Msgr Aloysuis Ngobya, and Sr Amadeo, both of Masaka diocese (2011), and Sr Bernadeta Mbawala (2011) of Tanzania.
Meanwhile, Namugongo is full of activity as more pilgrims arrive ahead of the official Martyrs Day celebrations tomorrow.
Police beefed up by its sister security agencies such as counter terrorism, intelligence and army are maintaining a 24-hour security surveillance.
