9:30pm: Police boss Gen Kale Kayihura arrives at the blood-spattered scene where Deputy Director of Public Prosecution was murdered by heavily-armed gunmen on Monday night.
He tells area residents and spectators that police will not rest until the perpetrators of the crime are brought to book.
8:20pm: Police and sister security services pour operatives in Kiwatule to hunt down suspects in the killing of Joan Kagezi.
The murder sends shock waves across Kampala, with lawyers mourning one of the most hard-working and incorruptible officer.
It also emerges that Kagezi was one of the leading attorneys in the trial of suspects accused of masterminding the bombings at Kyadondo and Ethiopian Village Restaurant in Kampala in 2010.
The trial was expected to resume on Tuesday after being adjourned last Friday.
7:30pm: Reports coming in indicate that Joan Kagezi, a lawyer with the Directorate of Public Prosecution has been murdered by unknown gunmen in Kiwatule, a Kampala suburb.
Kagezi was shot dead at around 7:15 PM at Kiwatule near the Northern Bypass Fly over.
Eyewitnesses say the killers, believed to have tracked her down from town, shot her twice in the head, before speeding off on a numberless motorcycle.
Our Reporter Pat Larubi says one of the police officers at the murder scene identified only as Kamugisha refused to comment on the incident saying that time was not rife to open up to the media.

The lawyer was traveling in her Ford Double Cabin Reg Number UG 0585J with her son and daughter. These two escaped unhurt and have been taken away by police.
“The woman had just packed the car next to Vice Pharmaceuticals to buy fruits and as she was returning to the car, the killers approached from the side of Ntinda before shooting her and speeding off to the direction of Najjera,” said one of the eye witnesses.
The murder scene remained clogged, blocking traffic to and from nearby Ntinda town. Her body has been rushed to Mulago Referral Hospital.
