THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IS A BULLY - #UGANDA

I did not write these words below.  However, some 3 years ago, our now 17yr old was telling me why people do not understand some things I post on social media. I had asked her about it. She then told me about the English Language being a bully of languages.  The girls speak English and French, more English than French.  Now imagine when I write for #Uganda and people do not get me.  I tell them to learn the International Language of Commerce and Navigation. Here you go.

---------------------

The English Language is a bully.  It will take your lunch for not understanding it, take you into the alley and beat the shit out of you, force you to hand over your pocket change for not understanding its non written vocabulary, dead puns, colloquialism, sarcasm, cynicism and then spit in your face for phrases you never knew existed.  Yep..welcome to the Bully Language.  It is sort of like Africa...there are no rules.  Sorry.  HAPPY? Naturally I did not mean that Sorry!!

Orignal words, no idea who even wrote them.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR EDUCATION IN EXPENSIVE SCHOOLS FOR GRANTED. MANY UGANDANS CANNOT AFFORD IT.  I AM LEARNING THAT SINCE SO MANY HAVE A HARD TIME UNDERSTANDING HOW I COMMUNICATE AND IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM.  How to solve this issue?

The above is the original which I modified and was posted on The Insider news website #Uganda as below:

The English Language is a bully.

It will take your lunch for not understanding it, take you into the alley and beat the hell out of you, force you to hand over your pocket change for not understanding its non written vocabulary, dead puns, colloquialism, sarcasm and cynicism.

When it is done, it will spit in your face for phrases you never knew existed and even take away your smart phone for misusing it. It is sort of like Africa…there are no rules of engagement.

For the Uganda presidential debate, we saw this language bite someone who will remain nameless.

LATTER VS. FORMER

Idi Amin ruled Uganda from 1971 to 1979 when he was ousted out of power with the help of the Tanzanian Army. Meanwhile Museveni has ruled Uganda from 1986 to current. The former is well known for atrocities he committed against the people of Uganda while the latter is well known for skipping the first ever live presidential debate.

In the end, the latter has not proven to be any better than the former and while the latter laments about the former, Ugandans have come to know that the former was a true patriot unlike the latter. English is a bully.
